Zecco Mobile Lite Has Arrived!

You asked for it and now it’s here! We are kicking off the mobile platform roll-out with Zecco Mobile Lite for Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch.

So, if you have one of these popular devices, you can download the new app by visiting the Apple App Store.

Zecco Mobile Lite delivers great market and portfolio monitoring functionality. Personally, I really like the clean and simple design, and above all, the blazing speed.

Here’s an overview of the key features of the mobile app:

  • View all your portfolios and watch lists on a single screen
  • Monitor your start-of-day portfolio positions with streaming quotes
  • Create and manage watch lists directly from your mobile device
  • Use advanced charting to find new investment opportunities
  • Keep up-to-date on today’s market news and market movers
  • Tap the Zecco Community for insight on your investments and ideas
  • Receive stock alerts via Push Notifications to your mobile device
  • Access your account safely and securely without having to sign in every time you use the app

No trading capabilities yet? That’s right. Let me add some background.

We decided to start the roll-out of our mobile platform in two key releases. While this first version offers a ton of great functionality, it does not include the ability to place trades, view intra-day portfolio positions, or check cash holdings from your device. The second release, coming soon, will include all these capabilities.

As much as we would have liked to offer trading capabilities in the initial release, we simply did not believe it was yet at the quality standards we have set for ourselves.

In the spirit of getting the mobile platform out more quickly, we felt it was better to release an app earlier that meets many of the needs of our customers, and build upon that.

This way you get an app today that lets you take much of your Zecco experience with you when you’re on the go. At the same time, we will be able to collect valuable feedback from you, our mobile customers, to help shape future versions of this exciting new mobile platform.

Please go ahead, install Zecco Mobile Lite to your Apple device, and let us know what you think!

PS: Yes, we are aware that many of you do not have a device running on Apple iOS. As addressed in a previous post, Disruptive Technologies And The Future Of Online Trading, we will be extending our mobile product strategy to other platforms as well.

where is the android version of this?

  • Marcel

Thanks! That was so much anticipated and outperforms most of my expectations. Theres only one thing I would like to see fixed and that is the number of decimals for bid and ask in the quote window.

Right now it says 0.00 for almost all Penny Stocks which usually are less than half a Penny..

Of you could fix this, the App would be awesome!!

    Thank you so much!
    Marcel

Lets see it took them almost 2 years to make a “lite” version… so another 2 years and we will get the “full” version for the iphone. It will take them another 2 years to make a “lite” android version + 2 years for the “full”… so expect an android full version in 6 years.

  • mjamesboy

With the money I’m saving at Zecco, I will be able to afford an iphone, but I really like Android. Disclaimer, I’m long GOOG.

VERY IMPORTANT FEATURE that needs to be added most specially when buying and selling stocks functionalities are added.

PIN CODE protection when starting the app! I hate putting in my username and password everytime you want to check your account but atleast protect your account from friends/kids/thieves who want to see/get your phone. Its like mint.com if you ever used that app. Allow PIN code for protection.

    PIN CODE please!

  • Gustomaximus

Great to see you going mobile but I have a question/suggestion for the dev team. Have you considered fixing the mobile style-sheet for zecco.com (or create m.zecco.com)? This way everyone could get these functions on any phone. And you wont have to keep porting and updating across the different platforms.

  • Jay

“Lite” is an exaggeration. Nice platform, but this app is of little use. Mint’s app can give me my starting day account total. i was hoping that with all the delays the app would be in a more finished state.

how long till its functional as a trading app?

  • Mani

How can I see p/e ratio from within the app?

  • Anonymous

From what I heard, having to login each time is a pain. Much better would be a PIN. Also penny stocks are important. And all this is from stuff I have read as I cannot even install it because I am running 3.1.3 on a iPhone 3G. Is there any hope for this to be supported on 3.1.3 someday?

  • Deominate

    Debbie Downer… wah….waaahhh! Lol

  • Fckzecco

    this app sucks

  • Mikey

fuggin apple fan boys……they dont trade stocks they drive jettas and sip lattes. GIVE ME A BREAK. android or BB you donks!

  • denver

looks nice, but it really is of little use. You can’t place trades, so why would I want to look at my portfolio real time if I can’t actually do anything to it?

“Oh sweet, look at what XYZ is doing… I’d better hurry home so I can login to my computer and place that trade.”

  • Brocky445

Thanks.. This is great.. Now, we are eagerly waiting for the pre-market and after hours trading features..

Although the Zecco App on my iPhone is nice, please develop it in such a way that it takes advantage of the iPad as well. The USAA iPad app I use allows me to trade, follow news, watch various markets in real time, and is very responsive. Using the zecco website on the iPad 2 is OK at best, and I can trade to my hearts content, but an app for the iPad similar to my experience with the USAA app would greatly improve my loyalty to Zecco. I never thought I would move my funds just because of an app for an iDevice, but the USAA app is quite slick and feature rich. Make it so, please, as your commissions are still 3 to 4 bucks lower than USAA.

Oh yes lets not forget that you just raised trading fees on stocks under $1.00 from $4.50 to $6.95, which is around a 55% increase. Was that so you could come out with an app that is useless! Lets see weren’t you suppose to roll out your main platform like over 6 months ago and it is at least another good 3-4 month away at best, but you found it necessary to raise prices now!

I hope all the penny stock traders leave you and go over to Trade King like I plan on doing soon. We really appreciate you sticking it to your followers who stuck with you this long.

  • Malickbhan

Useless app because you cannot trade and it does not refresh in real-time.

Now get the Android App online.

Mr Raneri, Please look in my account at the incompentence of your customer service reps. on answering a question about a security in my account. Please view the string of answers and replies in the message area. My basic question still remains unanswerred

     what about BLACKBERRY?

  • beachbumming

Bumming… on the lead time for Android platform!

I previously had access to my Zecco account on my Droid for months (Couldn’t perform a trade, but could track my portfolio). Then I recently lost the ability to login on my Droid, Zecco-rep said it was inaccessible for site revisions for an undetermined time. Could you give me an idea on we can have access to our accounts via the Andriod browser again?

Or, is that gone for 2+years?

I would seriously like the ability to check my portfolio on my Droid.
